Understand The Coverage Question
A photo eye detects interruption of its particular beam. A person or object outside that beam may not be detected by it. The installer must identify each relevant entrapment zone and select the required independent protection means for the actual gate.
What To Ask At Commissioning
Ask which hazards each device addresses, how the controller monitors it, what happens on a fault, and how the approved tests are performed. Do not cover a failed sensor, bypass its wiring, or treat a successful single-beam test as proof of complete safety.
